Stars of the Big Screen

The students of room 8 continue to be interested in police officers. Over the last few days we have been making list of all of the important things that police officers do.  Yesterday we borrowed a costume (thanks Justin) and many accessories (thanks Mrs. Macdonell) and filmed our very own movie trailer!

Mr. McKinnon let us use his Flip Cam to shoot some action scenes. We also posed for many photos. Then Mrs. Lowe used iMovie to create the trailer. iMovie has some amazing functions and one of them is a built in trailer template. All you have to do is drop your clips in and voila!

Today we made some popcorn and watched our movie in the movie theatre, also known as the life skills room.
Carrying comfy pillows to the movie theatre.

Watching ourselves on the big screen while eating popcorn.
Here's what some of the kids had to say about the experience:
I was going to jail in the movie - Malashia
We watched it and I was happy -Matthew
I was calling if someone was in trouble - Yuan
I was giving a speeding ticket - Alfonso
I was holding a number - Brayden
Making the movie was my favourite - Renee
I was so happy I almost cried - Charlotte

Room 4 - "You all look so cute". "That movie was better than Sharknado". "Your police men and women were talented and they are better than Michael Bay".

We have some questions for you:

- When you were making the movie did you have Constable Sue there with you to help?

- How long did it take you to make this movie?

- How did you find all of the outfits?

- did you have fun making the movie?

- Did you do research about police officers before the movie?

- What did you find inside of the police car?

- When you were making the movie did you have Constable Sue there with you to help? No, but Mrs. Lowe did take some video when she was here.

- How long did it take you to make this movie? It took us about 30 minutes to film and Mrs. Lowe did about an hour of editing.

- How did you find all of the outfits? Justin brought his uniform from home and Mrs. Macdonell brought us stuff from her house.

- did you have fun making the movie? YES!

- Did you do research about police officers before the movie? We read books, we watched videos, we played a lot, and we interviewed Constable Sue.

- What did you find inside of the police car? We found a computer, lights, the siren, her back seat ( a mini jail), a steering wheel, and her radar gun.

Great questions! From Room 8

Johannes - "It's so cute! I liked the evidence bags and the student looking through the magnifying glass."

Lino - "I liked the costumes and the police car. I also liked the kids that were pretending that they were in jail."

Jackson - "Was it cool inside of the cop car?"

"We loved all of the talented actors that portrayed each important character."

Room 8, I LOVE all of the many ways that you shared the things you've learned about how police officers help us! Your movie is great because it shows all of the things you know about police officers and also because you are great actors and actresses :-)

Thanks for sharing,
Mr. McKiel
