House Groups and 5 Up

Last week we met with our house groups. House groups are made up of several students from each grade and a teacher leader. We meet once a month with the same group to do fun activities and get to know students from other classes.

Last week we played card games together. The kindergarten students really enjoyed learning and playing new games.

Later in the week our class learned a game called 5 Up. All you need to play is a friend or two and a deck of playing cards.

Here's how to play:

1)The dealer shuffles the cards and gives each player 5 cards.
2)The players put their cards face down in a line.

3)The goal is for each player to make a number line from 1 (Ace) to 5.
4)The first player turns over the top card from the deck. If it is a number from 1-5, they may use it to replace on of their cards that is face down.

5)The next player may choose a card from the mystery pile or pick up the previous player's discard.

6)The winner is the player who is able to complete their number line first.

The WINNER!
